Golfer secures European Tour card with one-handed chipping

English golfer Jason Palmer has single-handedly won himself a European Tour card – literally.

Leicestershire-based Palmer is one of 15 Challenge Tour golfers who will graduate to the European Tour next year which is a remarkable achievement for somebody who doesn’t have the ability to chip.

The 30 year-old struggled to play effective shots near the green due to the ‘chipping yips,’ a condition which deprives the golfer any feel when attempting to play what appears to be a very simple golf show.

However, he found a most unusual remedy to this issue which involved the playing of any chip or pitch within 40 yards of the pin with just one hand. The technique has worked wonders for the golfer ranked 265th in the world, winning a Challenge Tour event in China and coming second in Oman in his last two outings. His success on the tour has granted him the opportunity to play at the much higher level of the European Tour.

Check out the video of Palmer in action below. There’s hope for all of us struggling with our short game.
