F1 scraps controversial gimmick for 2015

Formula 1's controversial double points scheme has been scrapped after a single season.

The final race of the 2014 campaign saw the winner get 50 points instead of 25, and so on.

It was designed to keep the championship alive, but was widely criticised by teams, drivers and fans alike.

In the end, it did not prove decisive this season as Lewis Hamilton who led the Championship by 17 points heading into the final race, maintained that lead by winning the final race in Abu Dhabi in any case.

Meanwhile, the South Korea Grand Prix has been reinstated for May, as part of a record 21 race calendar for 2015.
