Fox Sports snaps up Conor McGregor documentary series

Fox has moved quickly to pick-up RTE's six-part series The Notorious - it will air on Fox Sports over six consecutive nights later in April. The channel reaches over 90 million homes in the US

The series was selected as one of the 'programmes to watch' at this year's Marché International des Programmes de Télévision (MIPTV) showcase in Cannes.

Sunday Times report that the US deal is done - and that RTE is expected to enter negotiations with other potential international buyers today.

Fox Sports aired the original one-off The Notorious documentary on January 8th of this year.

The series follows Conor McGregor from Dublin, to Rio, Las Vegas and finally Boston - where the it concludes with his second round TKO victory over Dennis Siver in January of this year.

McGregor is listed as executive producer on the project, and has previously told the media that he is set to personally gain from licensing deals to air the show internationally.

The 26-year-old Dubliner's stock has rocketed since his debut fight in the UFC in April 2013. His brash approach has won him legions of fans around the world - and his fair-share of critics. Whether you love him, or hate him - there is no arguing against the fighter's box office appeal.

His upcoming title fight against Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Title on July 11th is tipped to be one of the most lucrative fights in the history of the UFC.

His coach, John Kavanagh recently talked to Off the Ball, he warns that McGregor's energy outside the octagon is far from an act, adding "he is slightly off his head. He is somewhat psychotic."
