'I have never been as nervous as that'

Soren Kjeldsen became the third Danish golfer to win the Irish Open in the last 14 years.

The 40 year old, who lead by two shots going into yesterday's final round beat Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and England's Eddie Pepperell on the first play off hole after all three players finished on -2.

It was Kjeldsen's first win on the European Tour in over six years. His last win came at the Open de Andalucia in March 2009.

Only five players finished under par at Royal County Down. Kjeldsen's winning score was the highest by a winner on the European Tour this season.

He spoke to Nick Dye after his play off win.The win, over guarantees Kjeldsen entry to The Open Championship in St Andrews later this summer. It will be his first appearance at The Open since 2010.The win puts Kjeldsen into the top 20 in the Race to Dubai. His World Ranking has also improved due to the win. He rises 198 places in the rankings to 105th place.
