Irish cricket's battle for a place at the top table in the sport has received another boost today.
World governing body, the ICC have announced that Ireland and Afghanistan have been invited to join the 10 Full Members in a rankings-based qualifying competition for the 2019 Cricket World Cup 2019.
It means that the pair have effectively been promoted from the World Cricket League, which is the competition for Associate and Affiliate sides.
The team are currently preparing for the ICC Cricket World Cup with their opening pool match against the West Indies next month.
