Jared Goff selected first in the NFL Draft

University of California quarterback Jared Goff was the first player picked in the NFL Draft in the early hours on Friday morning in Chicago.

The 21-year-old was selected by the newly-located Los Angeles Rams. The former St. Louis team traded up to the number one position and were expected to pick Goff or fellow quarterback Carson Wentz.

Wentz as selected in the second position by the Philadelphia Eagles. Like the Rams, Philadelphia traded up to the top of the queue to select a quarterback. The 23-year-old played for five-years for North Dakota State.

One of the most intriguing stories of the Draft involved Laremy Tunsil. The 21-year-old was expected to be one of the highest defensive players picked before a picture was revealed of the former Ole Miss student in a gas mask smoking an unknown substance.

Tunsil was eventually picked up by the Miami Dolphins in the 13th spot. Dropping down the draft cost Tunsil a reported seven-figure signing bonus.

The Draft continues in the early hours of Saturday morning. Over 200 players are yet to be picked with the event concluding on Sunday morning.
