'I'm assuming it's a good one to have on the CV'

"We're here to take over!"

There is some truth to Conor McGregor's words if the arrival of Donegal's Joseph Duffy into the Ultimate Fighting Championship ranks is anything to go by.

The 26-year-old mixed-martial arts fighter, who beat McGregor in 2010, becomes the latest Irishman to join the promotion, signing a lucrative deal which reflects his standing as one of MMA's rising stars.

Tonight, he joined us on Off The Ball to talk about making it into the UFC and the experience of being the last man to beat McGregor.

"I'm assuming it's a good one to have on the CV," he said. "Obviously with the success of Conor, it puts my name in the mix right away so I definitely think it was part of the negotiation."

Duffy, who hails from the village of Burtonport on the Donegal coast and moved to Wales as a youngster, also explained why he returned to MMA after a spell as a boxer and describes himself as a "methodical fighter".
