Leopardstown give the all-clear for Group One showdowns

Leopardstown Racecourse have given the all-clear for racing today, adding that their “new fresh track for the hurdle races will be provided on the inside line”.

“Parts of the chase track are currently unraceable and will be monitored as temperatures change throughout the morning,” said a Leopardstown Racecourse statement. “However they are optimistic that the chases will take place. Further updates will be issued through the morning.”

The opener of a seven-race card is at 12.20pm. There are two Grade Ones: the Ryanair Hurdle (1.25pm) - featuring Hurricane Fly and Jeski - and the Topaz Novice Steeplechase (3.05pm). The forecast is for it to be cold and frosty this morning, becoming sunny later.

Meanwhile, the action gets underway at 12:35pm at Limerick. Willie Mullins holds a strong hand in the feature Grade Three Cliona's Foundation Novice Hurdle on day four of the Shannon Airport Christmas Racing Festival. The going is soft-to-heavy (chase track) and heavy (hurdle track).

Across the water, Doncaster, Kelso and Southwell have all fallen foul of the adverse weather.
