LISTEN: Lowry not for changing ahead of his first Masters

Shane Lowry says he won't be making any major adjustments to his tournament planning for his first Masters next month.

Th Offalyman was in Newstalk's studio today on The Pat Kenny Show and insisted he'll treat his debut assault on Augusta like any other event.

"I don't know," said Lowry when asked by Pat about preparations for the first major of the year. "I've never been there, so ... people are telling me that I need to go and play there beforehand. That I need to this, I need to that.

"But I'm just going to do my own thing. Do what I do every other week.

"I'm not going early for an early practice round ... I'm just going to arrive on Monday. I'll probably do nine holes Monday, 18 holes Tuesday, nine holes Wednesday - is what I normally do the week of a big tournament."

The 27-year-old added: "I've got [the Arnold Palmer Invitational at] Bayhill next week and I've got Valero Texas Open the week after, and then I've a week's practice in Orlando.

"So it's just a normal three weeks for me and hopefully I can go in the Masters with a little bit of form.

"I'm the type of guy, if I go there and play well that's it. And if I don't, sure there's always next year."

Of his relationship with Rory McIlroy, he added: "Yeah I've known Rory for years. He was there when I won the Irish Open. What's can I say ... he's the best golfer in the world bar none."

The Clara native also discussed his future on the PGA and European Tours ("I'll never not play Europe"), reflected on Padraig Harrington's victory at the Honda Open last week, and explained his new app, SimplyGolf.
