Looks like the chancers are schooling the experts at Cheltenham

After the first day of the 2105 Cheltenham Festival, Newstalk's own Sorcha Heron has galloped ahead in our most profitable punters experiment.

Sorcha's tactic of picking her winners by her favourite horse-name shows there can be method behind madness.

So we should perhaps qualify our rules at this juncture, just before all hell breaks lose in the office.

While we're normally not ones for moving the goal-posts as we go along, it's been decided to slightly alter the target of the competition from being the most-profitable punter to being the one that brings home the most winnings.

There is a difference, and it just makes things a lot more easy to manage.

Also, it's based on betting €1 per race and always to win. None of that each-way nonsense around here.

So with day two's opener just 30 minutes away, let's have a quick review of yesterday's results and how they leave our winnings league table after Day 1:

€14.00: The I-like-the-horse's-name-and-that's-good-enough-for-me punter

€8.00: The oh-I-like-the-colour-of-those-silks aficionado

€3.73: The Tipster

€3.73: The former bookie-turned-broadcaster

€3.73: The shout-at-the-tele-in-office-during-races-like-I'm-ITK favourite-backer

€0: The loyal, Lotto-playing, long-odds merchant.
