Quillin is Andy Lee's toughest test but style could suit Limerick man - Macklin

The bookmakers might be tipping Peter 'Kid Chocolate' Quillin to defeat WBO Middleweight champion Andy Lee, but his compatriot Matthew Macklin thinks the Limerick man has a fighting chance.

The Tipperary Tornado told Off The Ball that the Quillin's style may play into his fellow middleweight's fists on April 11th in Brooklyn.

"Whatever happens he's achieved his dream and that pressure is relieved. I think his boxing will be able to improve," said Macklin.

"Quillin's probably the toughest test of his career but at the same time from a style point of view he might suit Andy because he likes to stand off and box and pick his punches. He likes to be quite explosive. If you stand off Andy, give him room and give him time, he's a very good boxer."

ESPN boxing correspondent Dan Rafael also joined us on Off The Ball to preview the fight alongside Macklin, and he is tipping Quillin to have the edge.

"I do think that Peter is the favourite for a reason. He should win the fight it seems to me, based on Andy's previous performances - the great knockouts notwithstanding. Peter is a guy who's shown a good chin and he's never been stopped."
