'Pacquiao and Mayweather fight going to be decided by who's the faster man'

Experienced boxing journalist Ron Borges says speed will be the key factor which will decide the winner in the Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight.

The Boston Herald writer joined us on Off The Ball to look ahead to Saturday's anticipated contest and highlighted quickness as the key asset and liability for either fighter.

"I think that's what it's going to come down to - a speed fight. It's going to be decided by who's the faster man and I think at some point in the fight both guys are going to realise 'it's not me' and then they have a serious problem," said Borges.

"Mayweather is a counter-puncher by nature but he tends to not punch until you're done punching. I think when you're watching the fight, watch to see if Pacquiao gets in those flurry of punches and gets quickly out. If he can do that, then I think he can win the fight."

Borges thinks the advantage is with the American but also gave his take on the changes in the Filipino fighter's style as the years have progressed.

"I think he's got back a bit. He hasn't had a knockout in five and a half years. I think constantly moving up in weight has finally affected him as it does to everyone who's ever done it. You don't lose your power but you're hitting much bigger men," he said.
