Shane Lowry "very happy" at halfway point of Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Shane Lowry says he's "very happy" with his position after the first two rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The 2019 Open winner is joint best of the Irish with John Murphy on six-under-par heading into the weekend in Scotland. Both played Kingsbarns today, with Lowry shooting a 67 and Murphy a 69.

Tyrell Hatton is the man to catch on 10-under, following a round of 70 at Kingsbarns.

Very happy," Offaly-native Lowry told European Tour TV after his second round. "I birdied the last two there and sitting here today it feels like a really nice day.

"It's tough, so windy out there. You're going to make mistakes, I limited them today and I made five birdies and an eagle today it. Was a nice day. I really enjoyed it with Callum yesterday and Gerry and KP. The first time I played with him and enjoyed it and one of those days, it was nice out there.

"I just know where I'm at out there. It feels comfortable to me and it is difficult when you're out there and I have had bad days when I'm playing in the wind but when I get in the wind, I generally feel comfortable out there. It was the same today."

Michael Hoey carded a 75 at St. Andrew’s to drop back to four-under while a 75 at Carnoustie left Paul Dunne on two-under par.
