Ireland look like their set to lose coach Phil Simmons as he is in talks with the West Indies to take over as their new boss.
The Windies would ideally want the Trinidadian in place for their three-Test series gainst England from Arpil 13.
Cricket Ireland hope to hang onto him, but he is only contracted until September.
The 51-year-old, who has been in charge of Ireland since 2007, is a former West Indies international (1988 and 1997), notching up 26 Tests and 143 one-day internationals.
