The morning round up

FA Cup

Manchester United survived another scare last night to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Louis van Gaal's side went a goal down against Preston North End at Deepdale before they recovered to win 3-1 and set-up a fascinating last-eight tie against Arsenal.

Scott Laird's deflected shot put Preston ahead before United sparked into life with goals from Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and a Wayne Rooney penalty.

United will now host defending FA Cup champions Arsenal in the last-eight after the quarter-final draw was made last night.

For the first time in this season's competition, United have been drawn to play a cup tie at Old Trafford and manager Louis Van Gaal spoke after the game about the advantage this gives his side.

“That is the most important thing, that we now also have the draw at home because I think that’s important in FA Cup matches, so I’m pleased,” he said.

Aston Villa will host Premier League rivals West Brom while Liverpool will face Blackburn at Anfield and League One side Bradford will take-on Reading.

Champions League

The Champions League resumes later tonight as the knockout ties get under-way.

Chelsea have travelled to France for the first-leg of their last-16 tie against Paris St Germain and Zlatan Imbrahimovic (pictured).

Diego Costa returns for tonight's game. The Spain striker has missed their last three matches after being suspended for stamping on Liverpool's Emre Can.

Manager Jose Mourinho isn't happy with the suggestion that Bayern Munich and holders Real Madrid are favourites to win the European Cup.

In tonight’s other game, Bayern Munich will be away to Shaktar Donetsk.

Both games will kick-off at 19:45.

Championship

There are three games in The Championship tonight.

Pick of the matches will see Derby get a chance to regain the top-spot in the table as they visit Rotherham.

Elsewhere, Cardiff will host Blackburn and Reading will take-on Wigan in the only 8 o'clock kick-off of the night.

Cricket World Cup

New Zealand took their second win of the tournament with a three wicket victory over Scotland in their Pool A match in Dunedin.

Scotland lost four batsmen on the first ball, the first time that has occurred in the Cricket world Cup history. Scotland were 12-4 and eventually all out for just 142. New Zealand laboured to a 147-7 win after 24.5 overs.
