Tiger Woods to return to Japan

Tiger Woods will tee it up at a new PGA Tour event in Japan

Masters champion Tiger Woods has announced that he will return to Japan for the first time since 2006 to play in a new US PGA Tour event in October.

The 43-year-old will be part of the field at the ZOZO Championship which will be held at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club from October 24-27.

A purse of $9.75 million will be on offer and the other two events on the Asian swing are the CJ Cup in South Korea as well as the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.

Woods claimed his 15th major title at Augusta earlier this month to end an 11-year wait for one of the big four tournaments.

The last time Woods played in Japan was 13 years ago at the Dunlop Phoenix, where he lost to Padraig Harrington in a playoff.
