Turkey pull out of 2022 Ryder Cup bid

Turkey has withdrawn its bid to host the Ryder Cup golf in 2022.

The president of the Turkish Golf Federation says that they will not be able to get the logistics in place to take their bid any further.

"We have greatly enjoyed working on this project and assessing whether we would be in a position to launch a viable bid to host the 2022 Ryder Cup. Although we believe that Turkey is now an established golfing destination, with a collection of world-class courses, it has not proven possible to secure the necessary logistical arrangements in order to proceed and so we have reluctantly decided to withdraw from the process at this time," said Ahmet Agaoglu.

It means that five nations remain in the running to stage the match are Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Next year's tournament takes place at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota, USA. In 2018 it returns to Europe, with France hosting.
