Watch: Ian Poulter fends off alligator during RBC Heritage

Ian Poulter had to chase off an alligator during his third round of the RBC Heritage tournament in Florida on Saturday.

The Englishman carded a third round 69 to put him on 10-under for the tournament. He's three shots behind leader Jason Duffner entering Sunday's final round.

It's the second such incident involving an alligator in recent weeks after Cody Gribble casually grabbed the tail of another at the Bay Hill Invitational in March.

Ireland's Shane Lowry is on three-under after carding 69 on Saturday while Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is a shot better off on four-under.

Speaking after his third round, tournament leader Duffner said: "I’m trying to play this week with low expectations. And have a trust and belief that my game is pretty good right now.

“I think expectations are one of the worst things you can have out here. You start thinking about how you should play or how you could play or how you want to play, that really gets in the way of playing well, to be honest with you.”

Other notable scores see Graham DeLaet on 11-under, William McGirt and Luke Donald on nine-under while Brandt Snedeker sits on five-under ahead of the final round.
