WATCH: One clip shows why F1 fans love the late great James Hunt

It's fair to say that modern F1 drivers are not particularly interesting when it comes to their dealings with the media off the track. At least, that is a criticism that is often made as they say the right things but nothing more once the helmets come off .

It's all a far cry from the '70s when the likes of James Hunt mixed a dash of hedonism with race craft.

This Thursday on Newstalk's Inside F1, Annie Kane and I will be talking to Hunt's son, Freddie, about a range of topics from his own career to what he made of the portrayal of his father in the movie Rush.

But there is a reason why the 1976 world champion is fascinating and that is as much to do with his actions off the track as they were to do with his exciting driving.

A fun-loving party animal, his dry sense of humour became legendary as this classic clip from an old interview highlights:
