WATCH: Relive Jack Nicklaus' epic Masters miracle 30 years on

Thirty years ago, the Masters witnessed one of the great victories as Jack Nicklaus claimed yet another green jacket.

His sixth Masters victory and record 18th major, the American shot a back nine of 30 to enjoy a remarkable victory at Augusta by one shot ahead of Tom Kite and Greg Norman, with Seve Ballasteros another shot further back.

With the 2016 Masters just around the corner, tonight on Off The Ball we were joined by Dermot Gilleece of the Sunday Independent and Dave Musgrove, caddy for Sandy Lyle who played alongside Nicklaus on that famous day, to remember that 1986 triumph.

Nicklaus was 46 and the perception from some of his rivals at the time was that he was a force on the wane.

Musgrove didn't expect Nicklaus to explode the way he did on the back nine on that final round in '86, although a setback for Ballasteros played its part.

"The next thing we know people are running through the trees, shouting 'Jack! Jack! He's hit it in the water! Seve's in the water! And it didn't really register with me because I hadn't been watching the scoreboard much. I'd just been watching Nicklaus. It was a phenomenal sight to watch him and that was the turning point," said Musgrove.
