Former Mayo manager James Horan has severely criticized the decision to hand Tyrone's Tiernan McCann an eight-week ban for diving during the tempestuous All-Ireland quarter-final over Monaghan.
McCann has been heavily criticised and ridiculed on social media, but many believe the ban is too harsh.
James joined Off The Ball as always on a Thursday and he feels the decision is "crazy".
"I think it's a joke. That's my opinion. I think Tiernan McCann and Tyrone are being hung out to dry a little bit. I think the eight week ban handed down by the CCCC is crazy," he said, adding that he feels the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee decision was influenced by a "groundswell of media frenzy" in the wake of the Tyrone v Monaghan match.

James acknowledged that McCann made a "stupid mistake" and a "fool of himself" by diving, but thinks the ban is "unfair", while he thinks rules on simulation and feigning injury should be reviewed at season's end.
He also feels that Tyrone "get a hard time" when it comes to these type of issues, citing the U21 All-Ireland final against Tipperary, despite diving and other transgressions occurring in games involving other teams.
