WATCH: Limerick are the All-Ireland Hurling Champions for second time in three years

Goals win games, but Limerick didn't need one.

They beat Waterford 0-30 to 0-19 at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final.

It's the second time in three years they'll bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to Shannonside.

They also become the first team since 1961 to win all of their League and Championship matches in the same year.

Limerick only led by three points at half-time, despite dominating the game - they led by six at one stage but Waterford were hanging on.

Then a phenomenal display in the third quarter saw John Kiely's side shoot 10 points through the posts and that was the ultimate winning of the game they went on to take by 11.

Gearóid Hegarty sent seven points from play through the posts in a man of the match performance with Tom Morrissey sending five over.

Cian Lynch was held scoreless but he was creative amongst a tough Déise defence.

The win means Limerick have won everything under Kiely this season: - the All-Ireland, Munster, Allianz League and even the pre-season Munster Senior League.

Even though Waterford people will be happy with the progress they've made this year under new boss Liam Cahill their wait for the Liam MacCarthy goes on another year.
