WATCH: Joshua Daniels returns to action after Buncrana tragedy with his first goal for Derry

Josh Daniels made a goal-scoring return to the Derry City lineup on Tuesday night against Finn Harps.

Daniels' family was struck by unspeakable tragedy after his mother, sister, nephews and brother-in-law lost their lives when their vehicle went off the pier in Buncrana on the Inishowen Peninsula

He was also struggling to get back to fitness with an injury, but on his return to action after that terrible tragedy, he found the back of the net with his first touch for Derry City on Tuesday night  in the 2-2 draw against Finn Harps.

He also registered an assist, completely turning the game around for his team after coming on as a substitute.

Fans on social media also paid tribute to Daniels' strength of character after putting in such a great performance from the bench, noting that it was his first senior goal for the club.

Daniels was also thankful for the praise, responding to Charlton Athletic player Mikhail Kennedy to express his gratitude and relief that his first goal was now out of the way.
