Player ratings as Ireland draw with Georgia in Tbilisi

Well, what can you say about that?

If you managed to sit through the whole game, fair play. If you didn't and want to know who to berate when you're talking 'sports' down the pub later then look no further.

It was a 0-0 draw so boring that it barely warrants player ratings, but, the good news is I am contractually obliged to provide them to you, the reader, so here we go...

1. Darren Randolph 5

Little to test the Middlesbrough goalkeeper in Tbilisi. In fact, nothing to test the Middlesbrough goalkeeper; Georgia had 0 shots on target and were probably still the better side. Grim. Notably slipped kicking the ball in the first half.

2. Seamus Coleman 5

If he did anything worth mentioning I missed it. Provided little going forward.

4. Shane Duffy 7

Another impressive performance from the Brighton man. Didn't look to struggle despite just returning from injury. Made a few big challenges and played with calm throughout an ugly game. Cemented himself further as a real leader in Mick McCarthy's team.

5. John Egan 6

The Sheffield United man looked to have a good rapport with his centre-back partner Duffy. One or two miscommunications across the backline but forgivable considering he is new to the back four in Richard Keogh's absence.

7. Matt Doherty 5

Similar to Coleman. Like most Irish deliveries into the box today, his crosses were far too high for anyone to get a meaningful header behind. Made a few good runs but with no notable end product.

6. Glenn Whelan 4

Pretty poor performance after a spell of good form in a green jersey. Not a whole lot to do defensively but was even weaker on the ball than usual. Kicked it straight out of play at one point in the first-half but still better than Eamon Dunphy gives him credit for.

13. Jeff Hendrick 4

Little to note. The 27-year-old looked to get the ball forward to little avail but didn't make as many mistakes as his midfielder partner Conor Hourihane.

14. Conor Hourihane 3

Gave the ball away on several occasions. Himself and McClean looked on totally different wavelengths and the Aston Villa midfielder provided a number of uncharacteristically poor crosses into the box. An off day for the usually talented midfielder.

11. James McClean 3

Optastats recorded him as giving the ball away 11 times in the first 45 minutes. If anything, he got in the way of Matt Doherty's ability to get forward and was caught out diving in during his defensive duties too. Poor deliveries and no trademark big tackle. Way off the pace even by that game's standards.

12. Callum Robinson 4

Substituted after a pretty anonymous 72 minutes. Yet to properly see the Callum Robinson that impresses on Match Of The Day do as well in a green shirt. Not out of place today.

21. James Collins 4

Struggled up top alone. Never looked threatening during his 78 minutes on the pitch and had little chance considering the performances of his teammates who were meant to be providing for him.

Subs

17. Aaron Connolly 6

Looked to be the bright spark Ireland badly needed when he came on. Broke through with his characteristic pace in the final few minutes but wasn't able to make the difference in his 15 minutes on the pitch.

8. Alan Browne 5

Didn't improve anything when he came on.

3. Derrick Williams 5

Got forward once or twice, again, failed to transform a bleak game.
