An NBA title for LeBron would 'put him in conversation for Top 3 of all-time'

The NBA finals between Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors as the seven-game series remains poised at 1-1.

And as things stand, home state hero LeBron James is carrying the weight of the Cavs on his shoulders as other leading players Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving are sidelined with injury.

Slam! Magazine editor-at-large Ryan Jones joined us on Off The Ball to paint the picture of James' grit-squad and suggests that the NBA great's experience could help them overturn the Warriors.

"Even though LeBron is the only one of their main guys right now who's got the championship experience, the Warriors don't have it at all," he said, adding that it is 24-years since a team without championship experience has won the NBA.

And in terms of the achievement for James if he were to drag the Cavs to glory, Jones did not mince his words.

"It would be massive. It would be far and away the highlight of his career and that's the one thing with the [Michael] Jordan comparison. It's always been tough to compare them and probably really wrong to compare Jordan and LeBron. With LeBron, so much of his game is built around helping the guys on his team and putting them in positions to score and creating offense for guys who otherwise can't create it for themselves and he's averaging 40 points over these first few games.

"So, it would be massive for his legacy. He's already a top tier all-time great but you would put him very solidly in the conversation for the top three guys of all time."

Jones also suggested that some "low-IQ" people have not appreciated the two-time NBA champion's impact on the game.
