Laois boss Eddie Brennan on why he's still playing hurling at 40

Eddie Brennan might have moved onto senior inter-county management now as Laois manager but the Kilkenny legend is still lining out for his club.

At 40, he'll be lining out with his club Graigue-Ballycallan in the AIB Intermediate Leinster Hurling Final against Portlaoise this weekend.

He joined Joe Molloy in studio to discuss both sides of his hurling career.

"There's an enjoyment factor," he said of his longevity.

"No 1, I've had no big injuries thankfully. Thankfully, I'm finding - and I don't if it's the genetics or whatever - I don't put on weight.

"I train, I mind myself but I suppose it's enjoyable hurling because you're not putting pressure on yourself.

"Even in the county final which was against our nearest rivals, it was in my head that I don't need to go out and put in the big performance that in the past I would have put pressure on myself to say I have that responsibility that I have to do that.

"Whereas now it's the younger guys and I'm just rolling along behind them. We've got a couple of really good young guys at our club and they're the ones that are putting in the performances and if I can put in a little bit of a contribution here and there and make a nuisance of myself, that's something for the team and like I said, it's enjoyable for that. I don't beat myself up about it afterwards."
