Rodgers praises players after they earn 'valuable' three points against Arsenal

Leicester City's phenomenal start to this Premier League season has continued, with another win over a top-six side.

The Foxes' 2-0 win over Arsenal at the King Power Stadium made it eight wins out of 12 games so far for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Second-half goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison secured the three points for the 2015/16 Champions.

The manager was keen to praise his players after what he called an important victory.

"We knew today that playing against Arsenal, the players they have at the top end of the field they're so dangers - guys like Aubameyang and Lacazette, Ozil in behind, they're a real, real threat, we knew there was going to be moments in the game.

"It was going to be a game of patience, we defended very well. Obviously tight going in at the break. Second half there was a period we were a bit too and fro which I didn't like, we lost that control element of the game but then we played ourselves into it.

"We got an absolutely brilliant goal, the combination play to score was excellent and James Maddison's finish for the second goal was wonderful and then at 2-0 we were able to control the game from there.

"A very, very important three points and a great reaction to losing the Liverpool game just before the international break, we've won every game since in this block and another clean sheet which is important. "

Jamie Vardy's goal that sent the hosts into the lead marked his 11th so far this season.

At full-time, Rodgers had high praise for his star striker.

"I knew he was a top player. He's played against my teams before and I've obviously watched him but it's really when you work with him you see it.

"He's tactically so good in the game, he understands football and he's always thinking and he's bright and all we've tried to do is have him more central.

"In this team, collectively everyone has to press at moments in time and they [the players] know they've got someone there who can stretch the game, who can set the game up and then inside the box his finishing is phenomenal, he doesn't need many chances,  he's so concentrated when they come, he's ready to take them."
