Leinster Hurling Championship boils down to dramatic ending

After a dramatic evening in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship Galway have lost their provincial title and the chance to regain the All-Ireland.

For the first time since 1969 fans of the Tribesmen will not enjoy summer Sundays beyond the Leinster Championship.

Goals from Eamonn Dillon, Sean Moran and Chris Crummey saw Dublin defeat the 2017 All-Ireland Champions on a score line of 3-19 to 24 points, the biggest win for the Blues since 2013.

At Innovate Wexford Park then Wexford and Kilkenny couldn’t be separated as they played out a 1-18 to 21 point draw.

Camera shots caught Davy Fitzgerald wondering at full time “Are we through” it was a thought on everyone’s mind as confusion reined throughout the ground.

His bewilderment turned to joy as word filtered through from the capital that Dublin’s result had turned the table around.

Kilkenny, Wexford, Dublin and Galway all finish with 5 points. It came down to goal difference and Brian Cody and Davy will meet again in the Leinster decider in two weeks time.

Dublin advance to the All-Ireland series and Galway have a long winter ahead of them as they're out.
