"I hope he can be the one" - Watford legend Luther Blissett talks Marco Silva with us

Six games into the season and Watford find themselves flying high in sixth place.

In their first season under highly rated former Hull City manager Marco Silva, the team have made a decent start to the season since their opening weekend draw with Liverpool - other than the significant blemish of a 6-0 hammering delivered by Manchester City at Vicarage Road.

Can it last and what have they been doing right?

Watford legend Luther Blissett, who was part of Graham Taylor's successful side in the 1980s, joined us tonight to give us his take on the Hornets' positive start to the campaign and even before Silva's appointment, the Portuguese coach was the manager he wanted to see at the club.

"I went to the Hull game when Watford played them towards the end of last season and was impressed by the way that he just dealt with the players and just seemed to be in control of what was going on which was really good to see," said Blissett of Silva.

"From then I thought to myself, if Watford do part with their current manager at the time, then he would be the one to go for."

Tactically against Swansea at the weekend, Silva anticipated a half time change by the opposition which would pay dividends in the second half.

"Away from home is where he's made a huge difference to the way the team plays because you watch them now and they just look confident. Their away form has been absolutely fantastic. At home, one or two slightly different things need to change but I think now that Andre Gray's actually got his goal, I'm hoping now he'll set off and we'll see some goals from him in the next few weeks," said Blissett, also praising the manager's public utterances.

However, Watford have had a recent history of high managerial turnover. Blissett's hopeful Silva can be the one to end that trend.

"I'm hoping this time he can be the one that we see next season and the season after because the supporters absolutely love him at the moment, the players all seem to get on with him and the results are coming. We are playing in a manner that pleases the eye. People enjoy coming to watch it," he said.

"The only thing that could put a spanner in it is if it all goes wrong and we don't get the results."
