'I would have lynched him' | Roy Keane on David de Gea blunder

Roy Keane has taken aim at both David de Gea and Jordan Pickford for their performances in Sunday’s match at Goodison Park.

Everton and Manchester United shared the spoils in a controversial game which saw Carlo Ancelotti shown a red card after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late winner was disallowed.

De Gea’s early goalkeeping blunder was what stood out to Keane, however, with the former United player was in disbelief at the Spaniard’s actions.

“He is trying to be too clever… he takes too long. What is he waiting for? You need to be quicker. These are huge moments with Manchester United trying to get into the top four.

Manchester United's goalkeeper David de Gea gestures during the English Premier League match between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park.

“He is an experienced goalkeeper, what is he waiting for? It is arrogance. I would have lynched him at half-time.

“There is no excuse for that. This is an experienced, international goalkeeper. It’s madness,” Keane said.

While Pickford did make some fine saves in the second half, Keane told Sky Sports at half time that the England international was just not good enough.

“I don’t need to see the stats. He’s not a good goalkeeper. We said it before the game. He is not up to it,” Keane said.

While Graeme Souness argued that Pickford must have some talent as England’s starting goalkeeper, the former Ireland international was unconvinced.

“I don’t care. He’s not a good goalkeeper,” Keane said.
