'If Ireland get on the front foot, you're in for a long old afternoon' - Martin Corry

Former England back row Martin Corry believes the first 20 minutes of Sunday's Six Nations clash between Ireland and his nation will decide the game.

Chatting to Newstalk's Oisin Langan alongside ex-Ireland hooker Shane Byrne on the Monday Rewind podcast, Corry shared the experiences from his own career.

"I always look at the first 20 minutes whenever you play Ireland, you've just got to stop this onslaught because if they get on the front foot, you're in for a long old afternoon," said Corry, before looking at England's development ahead of the Ireland clash, analysing the centre pairing and highlighting how Jonathan Joseph has changed the way they play.

Byrne also reminisced about his feelings before facing England during his career.

"There's many a box that you want to tick when you start playing for Ireland. First cap, obviously very important. First Six Nations, first home game ... all those things you want to do. But then when you get into this is what you're doing and playing against England obviously. We all grew up with them being the big team to beat always. It adds a buzz to it."

But he also said that the players hated most on the pitch, were those you got on with best off the pitch.

Corry also looked back on a match at Croke Park when he admitted that England played like "turkeys".
