'I don't blame Massimo Cellino' - Mike Farnan of Together Leeds on the club's mess

It's probably a cliché by now, but it's never dull at Leeds United.

The soap opera which often engulfs the club took another turn today when controversial owner Massimo Cellino was barred from owning the club having failed the Football League's fit and proper person test over a tax evasion conviction in his native Italy.

While, the Italian can appeal the sanction, the club is mired in more chaos just over a decade since they were relegated from the Premier League.

Tonight on Off The Ball, we were joined in studio by Dubliner Mike Farnan, who failed in his bid to take over Leeds late last year,

The former Man United managing director was part of the Together Leeds consortium which tried to buy the club off Cellino.

"I don't blame Massimo Cellino. I think the way this has been handled and let drag on is almost a tragedy for the club because the one thing Cellino was doing was getting a handle on the issue of getting the club to a safer place in terms of its financial position. And I believe, from what I've been told, that he's been doing a good job of that," said Farnan, who sees Together Leeds as a potential ally to Cellino rather than a threat.

But Farnan says it is unclear whether Cellino would have to sell or would be barred from selling to family members.
