'If Falcao gets fully fit, then Van Gaal will be starting with Rooney and Falcao'

It's been a long time since Manchester United looked and played like a bona fide Red Devils team.

But from the evidence of the 3 - 0 win over Hull City, Louis Van Gaal has got the club heading in the right direction.

Acknowledging that Hull were "dreadful" on Saturday, United We Stand fanzine editor Andy Mitten told Off The Ball that "it's more encouraging than the situation a month ago" for Man United.

"If Van Gaal finishes in the Top 4 in his first season, that would be widely regarded as being a success. United are in the Top 4 at the moment and things are looking positive. There's a good mood around the club," said Mitten.

Injuries have been one of the challenges for Van Gaal and Mitten explained that training methods at the club have changed over the last 2 - 3 years.

"The weights and conditioning coach left a couple of years ago. Van Gaal has brought some of his own people in. You can't blame any of the fitness trainers but the injury record this season has been horrific," he said, going on the different training methods used by David Moyes, Ryan Giggs and Van Gaal over the past year.

Mitten also gave his take on Robin Van Persie's dip in form and what it means for his future at Old Trafford.

"If Falcao gets fully fit, then Van Gaal will be starting with Rooney and Falcao," said Mitten, if Van Persie does not improve.

However, Falcao's fitness worries have been a slight concern and he admits that the "jury is still out" on the Colombian.
