Noel and Stephen Hunt: Brothers in arms?

On Tuesday's Football Show, Stephen Hunt and Noel Hunt will join Joe Molloy to look back at their football careers.

Footballing brothers in Ireland are a rare commodity, and the Waterford natives will go into detail about what it took to get them both playing for the Republic of Ireland.

The mechanics of siblings in sport will be examined, as we try to understand why Stephen believes that worry undermined his relationship with Noel in the Ireland camp.

Forced casuality meant that he often treated Noel as if he were just another team-mate. There was also the worry of Noel splitting his head open on trial for Reading when Stephen was there, and his brotherly regard almost kiboshed a signing that eventually happened.

April 2009 saw one of the most joyous results in the Republic's history, as Robbie Keane grabbed a late draw for the boys in green, in Bari.

Noel came on for Kevin Doyle that night, joining his brother on the pitch as they played out another dramatic scene in the international team's history. Noel spoke of having to 'get on and just start annoying people' - an attitude that underlines the self-deprecating nature of the Hunt family.

Stephen has spoken of the buzz of that night, but being frustrated by his own performance and not performing against the very best.

We will look at the dynamics of sibling rivalries, as there always seems to be a natural one-upmanship going on between brothers.

Indeed, when the two eventually played against each other in 2016 - for Coventry and Southend - both recalled the last time when they did so, and both were sent off.

By their Dad.

A lot to dig into on Tuesday night's Football Show, which can be watched on all of our social channels, or caught up later on our YouTube page and on the OTB website.
