O'Brien hails "very special filly" Love after his sixth 1,000 Guineas victory

Aidan O'Brien continued his domination of the fillies' Classic as Love won the 1,000 Guineas behind closed doors at Newmarket this afternoon.

The 4/1 winner, ridden by jockey Ryan Moore, is O'Brien's sixth winner in the race which he has won four times out of the last five.

In previous years, O'Brien has entered several horses into the race but Love was the sole entry this year.

"She was doing everything right all through the winter and the spring," O'Brien told Racing TV.

"She's a lovely filly. We always thought that she would get much further than a mile.

"She showed that she got a mile last year and we always thought that if we started here and then maybe go from here on to the Oaks, I think that's what the lads were thinking about doing."

The 11/4 favourite Quadrilateral finished in third place behind Cloak of Spirits who came in second at 12/1.

O'Brien praised all of his team that have been working with Love and Moore for the ride.

"Ryan gave her a beautiful ride, very uncomplicated. He had a lovely rhythm. I couldn't have been happier really," added O'Brien.

"I think Ryan had a lovely position on her and he had her in a lovely smooth rhythm through the whole race.

"You could see him clocking every furlong in his mind as he was going along.

"He had her well balanced down into the dip and she's very genuine, she had her head out and she really ran to the line.

"She's a very special filly."

In the build up to the race, Moore said he would be disappointed if Love did not place but admitted that it was a very open race.

After the win, he echoed O'Brien's praise of the winner.

"She's a lovely filly. She's a very good two-year old. She's just a typical Galileo filly that takes her racing very well.

"She has a great mind, she was always in control of the race really. I'm delighted with what she done."
