Kroenke releases statement addressing Arsenal ownership

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke insists he won't be selling his stake in the club.

Simmering fan anger at the American came to a boil last week with the Gunners' involvement in the seemingly doomed Super League project.

Thousands of fans protested outside the Emirates last Friday ahead of Arsenal's Premier League game with Everton. Banners calling for Kroenke to sell-up were plentiful, while an effigy of the 73-year old was hanged.

At the weekend, Spotify founder Daniel Ek expressed an interest in buying out Kroenke at the Emirates. The Swede had reportedly rounded up a posse of Arsenal legends Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry in an attempt to topple the American billionaire.

But Kroenke has released a statement (via Kroenke Sports & Entertainment), saying he's going nowhere:

In recent days we have noted media speculation regarding a potential takeover bid for Arsenal Football Club. We remain 100% committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the Club. We have not received any offer and we will not entertain any offer.

Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.
