'At the end of the day we want to win' | Andrew Omobamidele reacts to his first PL goal

Andrew Omobamidele could not muster much of a celebration after his first Norwich goal, as his side slumped to another Premier League defeat against Leeds on Sunday.

With Leeds in the lead after a Raphinha goal in the second half, Omobamidele put his team back in the game, and became the fifth youngest Norwich goalscorer of all time, when he found the back of the net two minutes later.

The efforts of the Leixlip native would not be enough to help the Canaries leave their perch at the bottom of the table, however, as Rodrigo got a second for Leeds almost as quickly as Omobamidele had responded to the first.

With the 2-1 defeat, Norwich continued their winless season, having only managed two draws in their 10 matches.

Speaking after the match, Omobamidele could not bring himself to celebrate his first Norwich goal too much, as his side need to bounce back from yet another defeat.

"It is obviously a proud moment for me," Omobamidele said. "It is my first Premier League goal, but at the end of the day we want to win the game.

"It was disappointing, it was disappointing to say the least. I felt the lads dug in. We were on top of the game for most of the first half, and I think we just need to work harder in the moments that we were a bit under pressure.

"We can't dwell on it. The thing in football is there is always the next game. We will just try and nip it in the bud tonight, assess the situation and move on."

Norwich currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, and will in all likelihood be relegated at the end of the season, unless things pick up for them.

While his side were unable to salvage any points against Leeds, Omobamidele believes that there were glimpses of promising football from the Canaries.

"I feel, anyways, that when we are on top in that first half we were winning battles and winning duels," Omobamidele said.

"You could see that bit of aggressiveness from the boys. But, as I say, it was just disappointing at the end with the result.

"Football is all about confidence, so we need to do our best to maintain our confidence and just keep moving forward. We are just going to try nip this in the bud, assess it and move on to Brentford. We just need to focus on that."
