Deontay Wilder reveals bicep surgery following Fury defeat

Deontay Wilder says he is recovering from surgery to his biceps that followed his February defeat to Tyson Fury.

Wilder surrendered the WBC heavyweight title to Fury following a 7th round stoppage in Las Vegas.

The 34-year old revealed news of the surgery to his left arm in the latest episode of the PBC Podcast.

No stranger to the surgeon's knife, Wilder has undergone numerous procedures on his right arm and hand.

Wilder and Fury are due to meet for a third time later this year. The fight was originally scheduled for July 18 but now can't take place until at least October 3 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Recovery’s going well", Wilder told the hosts, "I’m in therapy. I end up injuring it during my last fight, somewhere up in there.

"But everything’s going great with it.

"You know, that’s another thing, I’m just focusing on recovery, getting myself back to full health and getting ready to [come back].

"Hopefully this corona stuff will be out the way and we can get back to camp, and get ready to go again sometime at the end of the year."

Wilder claims he's unable to work out in the gym until at least the start of next month, "That’s what I’m looking forward to. You know, once I get healed with my arm, I’m looking forward to just working out, being able to do the things that I love to do."

"Right now, I’ve just been sitting back and getting [taken] care of,” Wilder added.

"Which that’s not a bad position, either, now, you know? Getting taken care of, all my meals have been prepared special for me and brought to me.

"Just a lot of catering right now, you know, between my fiancée and all the kids that I got around me. You know, it’s been beautiful, man.

"Like I said, it’s nothing I can complain about at this moment in time. I know we’re all, in the world, going through something together."
