Ireland's Mark English claimed his third European Indoor Championships medal tonight earning a bronze medal in the 800m.
In somewhat farcical circumstances, it had initially appeared that English's hopes of winning a medal at the games in Glasgow would be halted after a detrimental collision with Britain's Guy Learmonth in the semi-final stage.
Speaking in the direct aftermath, English announced his decision to protest a clash that looked set to cost the Irishman.
"It’s very disappointing," noted English.
"It’s so ridiculous, he tried to come through on the inside like that and expected to get away with it. Hopefully he doesn’t. I’m going to put in a protest. We’ll wait and see."
Thankfully for the athlete, that protest proved successful and English was instated for this evening's final.
A silver-medalist in the same event four years ago, English came in third this time finishing behind winner Alvaro de Arriba of Spain (1:46.83) and Britain's Jamie Webb 1:47.13.
