It took just one round for Amanda Nunes to cement herself in UFC history as she became the first female double champion ever in the promotion by dethroning featherweight kingpin, Cris Cyborg.
Having ruled the roost at 135lbs, the Brazilian made the jump up in weight classes to face her compatriot and made light work of the champion - previously unbeaten under the UFC banner.
Speaking after the fight, Nunes said she wasn't surprised by the result.
"I'm very happy, this is the moment I've waited for my whole life," she said. "Making history. Tonight I did it once again. I want to sit down and watch everything. Incredible.
"I say in all my interviews, I train with the guys in American Top Team. I still move forward when I get hit from those guys. I knew she wouldn't be able to walk me down.
"I was so ready tonight. Nothing was going to stop me from what I wanted to do tonight. When she connected with a couple of punches, I thought 'I'm going to walk forward now'.
"She's strong, powerful and always a great champion. I respect Cris a lot, but tonight I knew it was going to be my night. I knew I was going to be the one and it happened."
Nunes now becomes just the third fighter in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously; with Conor McGregor and more recently Daniel Cormier the only other two to achieve the feat.
