Andy Lee believes the leading Boxing promoters have a major role to play in cleaning up the sport
Anthony Joshua is still searching for an opponent ahead of his US debut in New York on June 1. The IBF, WBA and WBO Heavyweight champion was due to fight Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden but the American failed a drugs test after testing positive for GW1516, HGH and EPO.
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has been very critical of Miller but former Middleweight champion Andy Lee believes it will keep happening unless promoters take a much tougher stance on drugs cheats.
Speaking on this week's Off The Brawl, Andy Lee said:
"It's on the promoters now, if the governing bodies aren't going to do it, if the commissions aren't going to do it and the promoters are getting frustrated, and really are as outraged as they say they are about failed tests, they have to stop working with these fighters, they have to blacklist them."
Lee added: "say that's it you failed a test, that's the end of your contract with me or with anybody else, there has to be some unified thing because they're the people who have the control in boxing, the promoters. If they're not going to work with you, you're not going to get a fight"
