Roger "Black Mamba" Mayweather dies aged 58

Legendary boxing trainer Roger Mayweather has passed away at the age of 58.

The "Black Mamba" complied a professional boxing record of 59-13 and was also a two-weight world champion, holding WBA and lineal super featherweight titles, along with the WBC light welterweight title from 1987 to 1989.

Mayweather's health had been declining for a number of years after an 18-year in ring career. He also went missing back in 2012 but was locate by law enforcement and family members.

Mayweather coached his nephew Floyd  between 2000 and 2012 guiding him to numerous world titles during the peak years of Floyd's reign.

Mayweather Jr spoke about his uncles' poor health in a 2015 interview, stating that years of boxing had taken its toll on his uncle.

“My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing,” Floyd said. “He’s only in his 50s, but it seems like he’s an old man in his 80s.

Roger also coached the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez and Ray "Boom BOOM' Mancini. Many consider him to be the greatest trainer of all-time.

At time of publish no cause of death has been released.
