Second NBA player tests positive for coronavirus

A second NBA player has tested positive for coronavirus today, a teammate of the Utah Jazz player who was the first confirmed case.

According to reports in the US, Donovan Mitchell is the player who has tested positive for COVID-19 today.

The team conducted 58 tests among players and staff but Mitchell was the only one to test positive for the virus.

He is a teammate of Rudy Gobert who was the first confirmed case in the NBA.

On Wednesday night Gobert became the NBA’s ‘patient zero’ when he was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19.

On Monday, in the aftermath of a press conference, he appeared to not be taking the pandemic seriously.

Gobert touched all the microphones and recording devices journalists had placed on the table in front of him.

After his diagnosis, the NBA moved swiftly and canceled the rest of the season until further notice.

“The N.B.A. will use this hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic,” the league said in its statement Wednesday night.
