Shane Lowry gives his take on Ballyliffin- “Silly errors are very costly out there”

Former Irish Open champion Shane Lowry spoke about his second round two under in The 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

“I can’t understand how no one is -10, it’s very tricky out there to get it close. You get it inside twenty feet and it’s a great chance, 'cause the greens are so good. I’m happy with how I played today and very happy with that putt on the last.

“It’s great to have a nice finish and great to be going off the last green with a small on my face. Looking forward to relaxing now for the afternoon and getting into tomorrow and seeing what I can do”, he said.

“I sat down yesterday evening and felt tired like I let a few shots mentally slip. I did play good yesterday and have to take that in today and try not force it too much. It was great out there today and I really enjoyed it and I’m very happy with the score.

“I think if I shoot in the sixties tomorrow that’s a good target for me. I’ll have a great chance going into Sunday. Silly errors are very costly out there. It’s quite frustrating when you do that. When you’re in position to make par and you don’t it’s quite frustrating and annoying, but I'd nine holes to get it back so it was ok.

Lowry is in a great position heading into the weekend only five shots off the lead, here is his thoughts ahead of a busy weekend.

“Patience is the key and you have to be patient for the weekend. It’s not easy out there, it’s still tricky. You’re so scared to go for it , two or three yards too far and you’re definitely gonna make bogey. We haven’t played a golf course like this, we don’t do it very often, it’s nice to do it every now and again. It’s never nice to miss the cut at your home tournament. I’m very happy to be here over the weekend.

“I think Carnoustie might be a little bit tougher. It is a great warm up week for The Open. First and foremost I want to do well in this tournament.
