"Bit of a w**ker" - Ronan O'Gara on how he believed he was perceived as a player

Ronan O'Gara believes Paddy Jackson is "more capable" of being a starting option in comparison to Ian Madigan because he has had far more game-time at out-half than his rival.

The duo will be vying for the deputy No 10 role for Ireland at the upcoming Rugby World Cup and former Munster and Ireland legend Ronan O'Gara gave his take on their private battle when he joined us for our Off The Ball Roadshow at Cork's Opera House tonight.

"I think Paddy Jackson is more capable of starting a game than Ian Madigan at the minute because he's played more rugby there. Ian Madigan needs to play more at No 10 because it's a position where you need minutes," said ROG, who was on our World Cup preview panel alongside former Munster scrum-half Tomas O'Leary, The Irish Times' rugby correspondent Gerry Thornley, 1991 World Cup squad member Ralph Keyes and former Ireland and Munster winger Ian Dowling.

But O'Gara also revealed the perception he believes people had of him as a player.

"The perception of me when I was playing was cranky, narky, arrogant, bit of a w**ker I'd say," he said.

And he also had a funny insight into life as a TV pundit.

"I essentially get paid to sit on my arse and watch the team. It's great. You live like a king. You've great facilities, you sit down, you've runners getting you tea, coffee, purple snacks, yellow snacks, sandwiches, chips," he said.

The panel also previewed the World Cup from Ireland's point of view and the build-up to the tournament.
