Andrew Porter signs IRFU contract until 2025

Andrew Porter has become the latest player to sign an IRFU contract.Β

The front row - who has switched to tighthead from loosehead of late - has put pen to paper on a deal until 2025.

The highly rated 25-year-old has excelled for both Leinster and Ireland in recent seasons.

Making his Ireland debut in 2017, Porter has since collected 40 caps at international level.

He was part of Ireland's Grand Slam success in 2018, and has also amassed considerable silverware with Leinster.

The 25-year-old was a Champions Cup winner in 2017, and has also 4 PRO14 winners medals.

Porter said he was pleased to have confirmed his immediate future.

"It is a really exciting time for Irish Rugby with both Ireland and Leinster in a good place and with ambition to get better.

β€œIt was fantastic to have crowds back in the stadiums over the past couple of months and it makes a huge difference to the players on the field.Β  Hopefully we will be back to full stadia in the months ahead.”

David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director, commented, β€œAndrew worked incredibly hard to transition from loosehead to the tighthead role and has shown the same dedication and application to revert back in recent months.

β€œHe has proven his credentials on the tighthead side and took a big step during November to show that he can be a force at international level on the loosehead side. It will be exciting to see how his career progresses over the coming seasons.”

Porter's signature follows Conor Murray's deal, which was announced yesterday.Β
