Anthony Foley on why he "jumped at" chance to bring Andy Farrell to Munster

Munster head coach Anthony Foley has admitted that he "jumped at" the opportunity to bring incoming Ireland defence coach Andy Farrell into his setup.

The ex-England defence coach will work alongside Foley as a consultant for the next four months as the province try to turn around their flagging fortunes on the pitch.

Munster CEO Garrett Fitzgerald has revealed that it was the province and not the IRFU that approached Andy Farrell about a part-time role at the province, and Foley has outlined what the new arrival can bring.

"Andy's name came up as a possible person to come in on a consultancy basis and to be honest with you it was a short conversation," said Foley.

"It was something that I jumped at in terms of Andy's role, coming in, sitting in the background, have a look at how we coach, how we present the information we're given. Players have a chat with him, he's a top man and hopefully he'll develop conversations within the group."
