BJ Botha may well have played his final game for Munster

BJ Botha may have played his last game for Munster.

The province have confirmed that the 36-year-old will have to undergo surgery on a ruptured ACL that he suffered during last Saturday's defeat to Stade Francais.

Munster say he is unavailable for the "foreseeable future".

The veteran tighthead now appears to have played his final game for the province, with the 36-year-old's contract running until June 2016.

With Munster unwilling to offer him anything longer than a one-year deal, Botha has been linked with a move to English Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.

The bad news comes on a day when an under-pressure Munster had some positive updates when it came to new contracts as James Cronin and Mike Sherry were tied to new deals.
