CJ Stander on his first taste of life in the Ireland camp

CJ Stander has reacted positively to his first taste of life in the Ireland fold.

The South Africa-born Munster No 8, who is now eligible for action for Ireland, was speaking to Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre today in the wake of his first experience in an Ireland training camp this week.

"It was nice to meet all the different players and the coaches in the different environment, sitting down with them and chatting with them. It's just the first step and if I'm good enough, I've to put up my hand to get in there. If I'm not, there's probably stuff I need to work on. But it's all goal-driven and it's very focused up there," he said.

Stander also looked ahead to the challenge of going up against fellow back-row Sergio Parisse when Munster take on Stade Francais in the Champions Cup.

"He's an unbelievable player. You never know what he's going to do, so when I was younger I looked at a few stuff that he did and going into that, it's going to be a great occasion to go toe-to-toe with the best in the world. That's the type of guy you need to clamp down in a match," said Stander of the Italy captain.
