After a dismal start to the Pro12 season, Connacht have received some promising news today as winger Niyi Adeolokun signs a new contract extension that will keep him with the province until at least 2019.
The 25-year-old is currently in his third season with Pat Lam's side and played an integral role in their historic Pro12 success last season.
He scored one of Connacht's three tries in their win over Leinster in the Guinness Pro12 final and added another in their opening game of the 2016 season against Glasgow Warriors.
Originally from Nigeria, Adeolokun first arrived in Ireland in 2001 and began playing rugby with De La Salle College. He started playing for AIL side DUFC in 2009 before transferring to Connacht in 2013.
Reacting to the contract news, Head Coach Pat Lam said:
"I'm very pleased for both Connacht Rugby and our supporters that Niyi will be playing with us for the next three seasons. As the fastest member of our squad, he is a very exciting rugby player with a huge amount of talent. But what impresses us the most with Niyi is his willingness to put in the hard work and consistently look for areas he can improve.
"I have no doubt that he will be a vital contributor again this season as we look to compete in both the Guinness PRO12 and European Champions Cup."
